About the Opportunity
- Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and execute the company's financial strategy aligned with the overall business objectives.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO and executive team to support effective decision-making.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identify areas of improvement, and propose appropriate actions.
- Assess potential risks and opportunities and develop mitigation strategies.
- Financial Management:
- Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Oversee the dual revenue recognition models: Percentage-of-Completion for construction projects and Point-of-Sale/Delivery for manufactured millwork sales.
- Manage financial reporting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Monitor and optimize the company's capital structure and financing activities.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and strategic initiatives as assigned to support organizational growth, operational excellence, financial stewardship, and evolving business priorities.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, including variance analysis, cost analysis, and profitability assessment.
- Prepare and present financial reports, performance metrics, and forecasts to the executive team and board of directors.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to drive operational efficiency and profitability.
- Risk Management and Compliance:
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Ensure strict compliance with US GAAP and Canadian ASPE/IFRS, specifically regarding revenue recognition for construction contracts.
- Manage cross-border tax implications, including GST/HST, Sales Tax, Customs Duties, and Transfer Pricing documentation for intercompany transactions.
- Mitigate foreign exchange (FX) risk on material imports/exports and revenue streams in USD/CAD.
- Oversee insurance programs tailored to construction liability, workers’ compensation and property insurance for manufacturing facilities.
- Oversee internal and external audits and liaise with auditors as necessary.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and effective communication with other departments.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is required.
- Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role within a high growth project management or construction company.
- Deep understanding of billing standard and percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Demonstrated success in managing cross-border supply chains, including customs brokerage coordination and tariff classification.
- In-depth knowledge of financial management principles, accounting standards, and financial regulations.
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen to align financial objectives with the overall business strategy.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide insights for decision-making.
- Proficient in financial analysis tools, ERP systems, and MS Office suite.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a finance team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Salary Range
$250,000 - $300,000 / year
