Property Accountant
Middletown, NJ Area
Salary: $75,000 - $120,000 Benefits
Our client, a well-established commercial real estate investment and management company in the Middletown, NJ area, is seeking a Property Accountant to join its growing accounting team. This role will be responsible for the financial reporting and accounting activities of a portfolio of commercial properties and related entities.
The ideal candidate will have experience in property accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, tenants, vendors, lenders, and external accounting partners.
Responsibilities
- Manage the month-end close process for an assigned portfolio of commercial properties
- Review monthly operating reports and financial information prepared by an outsourced accounting team
- Prepare lender and investor reporting packages and monitor compliance with reporting requirements
- Coordinate draw submissions and communicate with lenders as needed
- Monitor cash activity, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Assist with tenant and vendor inquiries related to financial matters
- Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting activities
- Work closely with Asset Management, Property Management, and other internal stakeholders
- Coordinate year-end audit and tax preparation requirements with external accountants and auditors
- Review CAM reconciliations and assist with tenant-related questions
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and applicable regulations
- Support special projects and additional accounting initiatives as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3 years of property accounting experience
- Knowledge of commercial real estate accounting principles and property management practices
- Experience with Yardi or similar real estate accounting software
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and document management systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with various stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
