Senior Finance & Accounting Operations Manager - Portugal based POST NUMBER: 482667
We are seeking a Senior Finance & Accounting Leader with 10 years of experience to drive end-to-end ownership of Record-to-Report (R2R), General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (P2P), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Treasury operations within a shared services, GBS, or BPO environment. This role requires a Director/Project Manager-level professional with a proven track record in global finance operations, team leadership, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Compliance
- Oversee end-to-end R2R, GL, AP, AR, and Treasury processes in a shared services or GBS setup.
- Lead month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance with IFRS, US GAAP, and SOX standards.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to SLA/KPIs for all financial deliverables.
Team Leadership & Client Management
- Manage and lead large cross-functional F&A teams (>200 FTEs) with full accountability for performance and delivery.
- Directly handle client relationships, escalations, and stakeholder management in a global/multi-region environment (US, Europe, APAC).
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, automation, and process efficiency.
Process Transformation & Automation
- Drive global process transitions, knowledge transfers, and change management initiatives.
- Lead automation and RPA implementation to streamline finance operations.
- Develop and execute training programs to build team capability and upskill resources.
Qualifications & Experience
Must-Have Background
- 10 years of progressive experience in Finance & Accounting, with a focus on R2R, GL, AP, AR, and Treasury.
- Extensive experience in BPO, GBS, or Shared Services environments, preferably within multinational corporations.
- Hands-on expertise in month-end/year-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance (IFRS, US GAAP, SOX).
- Proven ability to lead large teams (>200 FTEs) and manage client relationships and escalations in a global setting.
Leadership & Strategic Impact
- Track record of managing BPO and Shared Services teams at scale.
- Experience in leading global process transitions, knowledge transfers, and automation initiatives (e.g., RPA).
- Strong background in designing and delivering training programs to enhance team capabilities.
- Ability to drive process improvements, standardization, and best practices across finance functions.
