About the Opportunity
An established and growing Nashville organization is looking to add a Senior Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to its finance leadership team. This role offers broad exposure across the accounting function, including financial reporting, revenue recognition, process improvement, compliance, and automation initiatives.
Reporting to executive finance leadership, you'll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting, strengthening accounting processes, and supporting strategic initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with operational improvements and cross-functional collaboration.
What You'll Do
- Oversee key aspects of the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities
- Support revenue recognition accounting under ASC 606, including contract review, deferred revenue reconciliations, and revenue validation
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal documentation
- Prepare and review monthly sales commission calculations
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and operational reporting for leadership
- Support the annual financial statement audit and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
- Assist with sales tax filings, business registrations, and ongoing tax compliance activities
- Partner with Human Resources to support payroll tax registrations and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with the Controller and CFO on accounting system enhancements, automation projects, and process optimization initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience in either public accounting or a corporate accounting environment
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes
- Experience with revenue recognition principles, including ASC 606, is preferred
- NetSuite experience is a plus, along with advanced Excel skills and exposure to AI or automation tools
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Comfortable navigating changing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to streamline accounting processes and identify opportunities for greater efficiency
- Self-motivated team player who can work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
