Assistant Controller
About the Company
A growing alternative investment management firm is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its finance and fund operations team. This individual will play a key role in financial reporting, fund accounting, audit coordination, tax compliance, and oversight of third-party service providers. The organization manages multiple investment vehicles and offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
What You'll Do
- Assist with quarterly and annual fund financial reporting
- Coordinate with third-party fund administrators on NAV reporting, capital activity, investor allocations, and financial statements
- Support annual audits and tax compliance processes
- Review complex fund transactions and accounting treatment
- Assist with cash management, forecasting, and liquidity planning
- Respond to investor-related reporting requests
- Participate in process improvement and internal control initiatives
- Support special projects, including system implementations, new investment vehicles, and operational improvements
- Work closely with external auditors, tax providers, fund administrators, and internal leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA strongly preferred
- 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred
- Experience within investment management, fund accounting, asset management, private equity, private credit, hedge funds, venture capital, or similar alternative investment structures preferred
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and partnership accounting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong communication and relationship management skills
- Demonstrated history of increasing responsibility and career growth
