About the Opportunity
A well-established book publishing and distribution company is seeking a Studio Content Producer to lead visual content strategy, studio operations, photography production, and digital asset management across multiple product lines and brands. This role will oversee all aspects of visual storytelling and content creation, ensuring high-quality assets are delivered for marketing, e-commerce, retail, and promotional initiatives.
This is a highly visible position that requires expertise in photography, content production, creative direction, and asset management systems. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and hands-on producer who can manage projects from concept through execution.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Direction & Visual Strategy
- Develop and implement visual standards, photography guidelines, and brand style direction across product categories.
- Determine creative concepts, shot lists, styling approaches, lighting techniques, and production methods for photo and video content.
- Provide recommendations on visual presentation, content priorities, and creative strategy.
- Select final photography and video assets for marketing, retail, digital, and promotional use.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to maintain consistent brand representation across all content.
- Lead all phases of in-house and off-site photo and video productions, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, sourcing, set design, vendor management, and execution.
- Oversee studio operations, equipment utilization, maintenance, workflow improvements, and production efficiencies.
- Manage relationships with photographers, stylists, editors, and other external creative partners.
- Establish production schedules and prioritize projects based on business needs and deadlines.
- Produce professional product, lifestyle, and promotional photography and video content.
- Manage lighting, camera settings, composition, color management, and post-production standards.
- Direct photo and video shoots to achieve desired creative outcomes.
- Oversee editing, retouching, and final delivery of approved assets.
- Serve as administrator and owner of digital asset management platforms, including PhotoShelter or similar systems.
- Establish standards for metadata, storage, organization, accessibility, and archiving.
- Train internal users on asset management systems and related workflows.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and process improvements.
- Support social media and website reporting as needed.
- Assist with creation of graphics and marketing materials including presentations, signage, trade show assets, promotional materials, and sales collateral.
- Maintain studio inventory, props, and equipment.
- Perform additional related duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Formal photography education, training, or equivalent professional experience required.
- Strong understanding of photography principles including camera operation, lighting, color balance, composition, and current visual trends.
- Ability to take feedback, adapt creative direction, and work independently.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with digital asset management systems; PhotoShelter experience is highly preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and quality standards.
- Proficiency in Mac OS environment.
- Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills, particularly Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience producing visual content for consumer products, publishing, retail, e-commerce, lifestyle brands, or related industries.
- Experience managing both creative strategy and hands-on production within an in-house studio environment.
