Sales & Use Tax Associate POST NUMBER: 419946

One of Vaco's clients is looking to onboard a Sales & Use Tax Associate to join their growing team. Position is open due to growth. Qualified candidates will have strong reconciliation experience, sales and use/property tax experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Support various aspects of indirect tax management, including compliance, audits, and strategic planning.
- Handle a range of tax matters such as sales/use tax, GST/HST/PST, and property-related taxes.
- Assist with outsourced tax functions and manage related compliance tasks.
- Oversee processing of invoices and bills for tax returns and renewals, ensuring timely payments.
- Reconcile tax-related payments and manage journal entries for accuracy.
- Review and analyze tax reserves, including associated interest and penalties, periodically.
- Prepare and address correspondence on tax-related issues and audits.
- Assist with the management of audits and direct interactions with auditors.
- Oversee tax system maintenance and updates, including jurisdictional setups and tax allocations.
- Maintain a compliance calendar for timely tax filings and payments.
- Perform additional tasks as needed.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
• 2 years of prior experience in corporate tax, with a focus on indirect taxes
• Strong understanding of financial accounting practices and direct tax compliance
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and problem-solve effectively
• Highly motivated self-starter and problem-solver
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal skills necessary for building effective working relationships across all levels of the organization
