Accounting Manager
Our client, a biotech company, is seeking an Accounting Manager. This role is pivotal in managing the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles, including recording critical journal entries and performing key account reconciliations. The position offers the potential for a hybrid work arrangement. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to special projects aimed at improving accounting processes and streamlining close timelines.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and execution of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including preparing critical journal entries and performing key account reconciliations, with a focus on fixed assets, accruals, and revenue.
- Participate in special projects to enhance the quality and efficiency of accounting processes, including the full implementation of the NetSuite fixed asset module and leading annual internal fixed asset audits.
- Collaborate with Research and Development teams to develop and maintain robust accrued CMO and CRO expense models, particularly for quarter-end accruals.
- Manage the Accounts Payable (AP) team, currently consisting of two AP Accountants.
- Support the procure-to-pay process, including the approval of requisitions and invoices.
- Play a leadership role in developing SOX documentation across all areas of responsibility and participate in walkthroughs with auditors for relevant cycles.
- Contribute to preparing PBCs for quarterly reviews and year-end audits, and respond to auditor questions promptly.
Requirements:
- CPA or finance/accounting degree with at least five years of relevant accounting experience.
- Preferred experience in public accounting and the biotech industry.
- Advanced proficiency or the ability to gain advanced proficiency in NetSuite, Coupa, and FloQast.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to produce high-quality work with strong attention to detail independently.
- Highly collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, especially when collaborating with other departments with limited knowledge of accounting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $140K - $155K per year.
