Overview:
We are seeking a strategic leader with technical expertise in AWS to join our IT team as Director of Engineering and Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing infrastructure engineering and operations, building new cloud solutions, modernizing legacy workloads, and automating maintenance processes. The position focuses on ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability of IT systems to meet the growing demands of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic and Hands-On Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic technology infrastructure plan while also diving into technical details when necessary.
- Team Development and Management: Build and lead a small team of infrastructure engineers and operations staff, offering mentorship and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Operational Excellence: Manage AWS infrastructure to ensure reliability, performance, and security, while implementing best practices in cloud operations, including disaster recovery.
- Innovation and Optimization: Identify and implement new cloud solutions to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and improve scalability and reliability.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with other departments to support their technology needs and ensure seamless integration of infrastructure services. Partner on mergers and acquisitions to integrate systems and applications.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in AWS services, cloud architecture, infrastructure management, and familiarity with DevOps, Git, infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), scripting, automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, and observability practices.
- Leadership: Proven experience in leading and motivating teams to achieve goals and foster professional development.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate business objectives into actionable technology strategies.
- Problem-solving: Excellent problem-solving abilities to handle complex challenges and align solutions with strategic goals.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively engage with technical teams, senior management, and external partners.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 10 years of experience in infrastructure, software development, or related technology roles, with 5 years in a leadership position.
- Proven experience managing AWS-hosted infrastructure and leading engineering and operations teams.
- AWS or other cloud provider certifications are highly desirable.
