Contract Senior Accountant POST NUMBER: 423395

We're looking for a detail-oriented Contract Senior Accountant to join our team in Birmingham, AL. This role involves a variety of tasks to support the financial operations of our growing real estate company and offers a flexible hybrid schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed analysis of the general ledger and prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts on a monthly basis.
- Monitor and analyze financial trends and key ratios to identify significant changes.
- Assist the Controller with month-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Research and gather documentation required for business expansion into new states, including securing registered agent services.
- Handle the preparation and filing of multi-state business license renewals and annual reports.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual multi-state tax returns, including sales, gross receipts, payroll taxes, W-2s, and 1099s.
- Provide reports, custom financial analyses, and graphical data presentations as needed.
- Conduct research on tax and accounting issues to ensure compliance and provide accurate financial reporting.
- Compile all necessary documentation for external CPA firms for corporate tax filings.
- Track and ensure the payment of corporate tax liabilities, including managing carry-forwards and monitoring refunds.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5 years of accounting experience, with an emphasis on real estate or related industries.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, tax laws, and multi-state regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
