Our client in Nashville, TN is seeking a Commercial Development Manager to join their growing team. This is a permanent opportunity with a hybrid schedule.
This role is critical in shaping the company’s future and offers a mix of business development, account management, and channel development responsibilities as they are transitioning their products to a digital platform.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with key retail buyers (e.g., AutoZone, O'Reilly, etc.), understanding consumer demands and shaping product strategies accordingly.
- Develop new channels for product distribution, focusing on the DIY automotive market (e.g., used car networks, YouTube channels, fast fit operations).
- Manage and grow existing accounts, selling new products to retailers and ensuring alignment with store KPIs (e.g., sales per square foot, credible product range).
- Serve as the voice of the DIY mechanic community, understanding and authentically representing the needs of this consumer group.
- Travel up to 20%, primarily to meet clients and internal team members 1-2 times per year, though this may increase depending on business needs.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in account management or business development, with exposure to retail/category buyers and consumer-driven industries.
- Strong curiosity and desire to understand the DIY automotive market; hands-on experience in automotive projects is a plus.
- Ability to develop new distribution channels and network effectively to uncover new business opportunities.
- Experience selling to national retailers, with a solid understanding of their buying processes and sales cycles.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build credibility both internally and externally.
Preferred Experience:
- Automotive background or a passion for the industry.
- Track record of transitioning successfully between industries in a sales or business development role.
Work Hours & Travel:
- Hybrid schedule in Nashville, with the expectation of being in the office 2 days a week.
- Limited travel (up to 20%), with the possibility of more depending on business needs.
