Job Summary: The Fixed Assets Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the organization's fixed asset records. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards and company policies by tracking capital expenditures, depreciation schedules, disposals, and transfers of fixed assets. The Fixed Assets Accountant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial reporting, audits, and budgeting processes related to the fixed asset portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register, ensuring accuracy and completeness of asset acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
- Monitor and record asset capitalization, depreciation, and impairment in compliance with GAAP/IFRS and company policies.
- Reconcile fixed asset subledger to the general ledger on a monthly basis, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Conduct periodic physical inventories of fixed assets and coordinate with other departments to ensure proper asset tagging and tracking.
- Prepare journal entries related to fixed asset transactions, including depreciation, amortization, and adjustments.
- Assist with financial audits by providing necessary documentation and reports related to fixed assets.
- Collaborate with the finance team in preparing and updating capital expenditure budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze and report on fixed asset data, including asset utilization, depreciation trends, and variances.
- Support the implementation and improvement of fixed asset tracking and accounting systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on fixed assets preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software and fixed asset management systems.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
