The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information. The successful candidate will oversee month-end processes, account reconciliations, financial analysis, grant and fund reporting, and support audit and budgeting activities.

About the Opportunity
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Support the preparation of management reports and financial presentations.
Fund & Grant Accounting
- Track and monitor restricted and unrestricted funding sources.
- Prepare grant-related financial reports and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Assist with fund accounting activities and reporting requirements.
- Support grant budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliation processes.
Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate the annual audit process and prepare supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
- Support CRA reporting and other statutory filings as required.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
- Assist with the annual budget and forecasting process.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Monitor expenditures and provide recommendations to management.
- Support departmental leaders with budget-to-actual reporting and financial inquiries.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies.
- Participate in system implementations and process improvement initiatives.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required.
About You
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and working papers.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
