Senior Accountant - 6-8 Month Contract POST NUMBER: 425994
About the Opportunity
- Complete all bank reconciliations for Canada on a timely basis including preparing journal entries associated with the bank reconciliations
- The month end process ensuring the that the finance team is able to close the month on schedule
- Month End: Book journals (Prepaids, accruals, re-classes, corrections, etc.) within a three-day close deadline
- Prepare absorption report on a monthly basis
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly cost center review report and distribute the cost center analysis and management reports to managers
- Managing the monthly QST and HST returns and filings
- Audit - Prepare working papers, analysis and support for auditors
- Complete certain account reconciliations
- Clear accrued freight and purchases; requires investigation of any discrepancies
- Process customer volume rebates and third party commission.
- Perform monthly third party inventory billing calculation
- Statistics Canada filings regarding sales and inventory figures
- Support finance team with analyzing the GL accounts and resolving issues
- Coordinate issuance of certificates of insurance for company
- Support for Controller, Finance Director and Finance staff when necessary
- Complete all other duties as assigned by Controller and Finance Director
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, GMP’s and HACCP requirements
About You
- College/University diploma/degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Accounting Designation (or near completion) is preferred
- 3 years’ of general accounting experience
- Exposure to food manufacturing and distribution an asset
- Strong communication skills
- Interacts professionally at all levels both internally and externally
- Ability to give strong attention to detail and accuracy of work
- Time management and adaptable to change is important
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel
Hourly Rate
$32 - $37/hr
