Job Summary
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial reporting, and providing strategic insights to support business decisions. This role will work closely with the executive team and will play a key role in driving financial performance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and develop forecasts to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, optimize working capital, and manage banking relationships.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed cost analyses to identify areas for improvement and drive profitability.
- Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Tax Compliance: Oversee multi-site tax reporting and compliance, working closely with external tax advisors.
- Financial Systems: Manage and improve financial systems and processes for increased efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Collaboration: Partner with operational leaders to support financial decision-making and drive performance improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5 years of accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in the trucking or transportation industry is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (experience with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of Power BI and Power Automate preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
