Position Overview:
The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting and administrative tasks to support the day-to-day financial operations of the company. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate recording.
- Perform data entry for invoices, purchase orders, and receipts into the accounting software system.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
- Maintain organized filing systems for financial documents and records.
- Support payroll processing by ensuring accurate tracking of hours, overtime, and deductions.
- Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal departments to resolve billing discrepancies and inquiries.
- Assist with the preparation of sales tax returns, and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations.
- Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or administrative support role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and related financial transactions is a plus.
