Assistant Controller POST NUMBER: 430263
Our client is looking for an Assistant Controller to support the Controller in managing the financial and accounting operations of the company. This individual will manage GAAP and statutory financial statement preparation, internal controls, regulatory filings, and the monthly closing process. The ideal candidate has experience overseeing audits and tax accounting, ensuring compliance and reporting accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Oversee financial reporting functions, including the monthly close and preparation of internal and external financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Manage complex accounting areas related to insurance, investment, and advisory services.
- Prepare and review journal entries, supporting workpapers, and financial reports for multiple entities within the organization.
- Collaborate with other departments on reinsurance, loss reserves, and other finance-related issues.
- Enhance analytical reviews of financial results through variance analysis and budget comparisons, developing processes to track key performance metrics.
- Maintain and update the Policy and Procedures manual, ensuring effective internal controls and implementing improvements as needed.
- Act as the primary contact for the annual audit process for affiliated entities.
- Manage the accounting staff, optimize workload distribution to maximize resources and develop expertise within the team.
- Participate in management discussions and engage with various functional departments across the organization.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and conduct research on new accounting standards as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
- CPA is required.
- 6 years of progressive accounting experience, in audit or insurance industry.
- Experience in staff management is required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP Systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
