Senior Systems Engineer – WebLogic
The Senior Systems Engineer is part of the infrastructure delivery team, responsible for translating requirements into middleware infrastructure designs, planning and implementing solutions while adhering to continuous delivery principles. This role involves troubleshooting, installing, configuring, and maintaining middleware and applications to meet business needs. Key responsibilities include performing upgrades, analyzing performance, optimizing capacity, and supporting applications during both critical and non-critical business hours.
The position requires proactive identification and automation of solutions to address performance and availability issues across the environment. It offers exposure to a variety of server operating systems (Linux, Windows) and middleware platforms, necessitating the ability to support, administer, and engineer cross-platform OS and middleware solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system planning, execution, maintenance, and support activities.
- Analyze, design, and build IT systems, including defect resolution, configuration, and incident response.
- Partner with Development, Architecture, and Performance Engineering teams to design solutions that ensure operability, release management, capacity planning, and provisioning.
- Quickly learn and integrate new third-party software and hardware solutions into the existing platform.
- Deploy, configure, and support middleware and applications in physical, virtual, and containerized environments.
- Provide technical support for in-house and third-party middleware and applications, ensuring stability through proactive monitoring and problem resolution.
- Perform software upgrades, periodic health checks, and maintain technical documentation for training and support purposes.
- Identify opportunities for automation using orchestration tools and develop solutions to resolve performance and availability failures.
- Address platform security vulnerabilities and coordinate with vendors for resolution.
- Contribute to the creation of corporate IT standards, best practices, and roadmaps.
- Design tools, runbooks, and training materials for operations staff managing 24/7 site availability services.
Required Technical Skills
- At least 10 years of experience as an Oracle WebLogic administrator, covering areas such as:
- Oracle WebLogic Dynamic Cluster installations
- SOA/OSB upgrades
- Java Messaging Administration
- Enterprise Manager administration
- Oracle 12c WebCenter and Portal Administration
- Performance tuning and disaster recovery
- Applications and web server configuration/maintenance
- Minimum 5 years managing WebLogic environments with over 100 instances in a 24/7 setting.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g through 12c
- Oracle SOA, OSB, Coherence
- Oracle Java Messaging System
- Oracle WebCenter and Portal Stack
- Oracle Enterprise Manager
- Expertise in WLST scripting for automation, Python scripting, and Linux/Unix environments.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools (Jenkins, SVN, TFS, Release Automation).
- Experience with Kafka Messaging Framework (Confluent Kafka preferred) and Azure Cloud Technologies (Azure Spring, Function Apps).
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

- Competency in scope estimation and schedule preparation.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and conceptual abilities.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with technologies such as Git, Artifactory, Ansible, Puppet, Tomcat, and JBoss.
- Proficiency in TLS, SSL, and certificate management.
- Azure DevOps Administration with pipeline experience.
- Layer 7 Gateway Administration.
