Legal Assistant POST NUMBER: 432043
Our client, a reputable law firm with multiple offices, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support their litigation division in Columbus, OH. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced legal environment, excellent organizational skills, and a strong understanding of litigation procedures.
Candidates must be available to work 100% on-site in Columbus and have reliable transportation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence.
- File legal documents electronically with federal, state, and local courts, ensuring compliance with court-specific e-filing requirements.
- Maintain and organize case files, both physical and electronic, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
- Manage and track case calendars, deadlines, and schedules for court filings, hearings, and depositions.
- Coordinate meetings, depositions, and client interactions on behalf of attorneys.
- Assist in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing binders, and summarizing case information.
- Conduct basic legal research and gather case-related materials.
- Communicate with court personnel, clients, and opposing counsel to facilitate case progress.
- Support billing and time entry for case-related activities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal assistant, ideally with a focus on litigation.
- Proven experience e-filing documents with various courts.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and court rules.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management software.
- Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under deadlines.
