Senior Business Systems Analyst POST NUMBER: 432727
The Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) plays a critical role in defining, analyzing, and approving processes for a Policy Administration System. This position involves creating system requirements, coordinating with developers, testers, and business stakeholders, and ensuring seamless delivery across all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). The role supports systems such as Policy Administration, customer relationship management, data transport, and document creation services.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, takes ownership of tasks, and has experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role within IT, particularly in the insurance domain. Familiarity with policy administration systems and insurance products, especially annuities, is highly desired. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including offshore development and QA, and is based in Durham, NC, with a hybrid work arrangement (onsite 3 days per week).
Responsibilities:
- Become an expert in assigned systems or areas and effectively communicate with end users.
- Lead discussions with cross-functional teams to develop and refine system requirements, collaborating with IT teams for system integration.
- Support policy administration systems, including product builds, policy administration, claims, and financial data.
- Document and track requirements throughout development, testing, and deployment phases.
- Assist with functional testing and address end-user queries.
- Create training materials and assist with onboarding end users to new functionalities.
- Drive project execution, reporting progress, risks, and blockers proactively.
- Investigate defects and assess potential enhancements through detailed system analysis.
- Develop process flows for business procedures and assess system improvements.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for system updates.
- Serve as a liaison with third-party vendors.
Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in IT, including applications support, software/database development, or requirement gathering.
- 5 years of experience in the insurance domain; annuity/life preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience in an Agile setting as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Familiarity with insurance product development and policy administration platforms is preferred.
- Proficiency in enterprise tools such as JIRA for managing the SDLC.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, technology, or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to establish professional relationships and collaborate across teams.
