Staff Accountant – Accounts Receivable
Location: Onsite in Irvine, CA
Pay Rate: $28.50–$31.00/hour upon conversion
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Type: Contract-to-Hire, excellent, industry-leading benefits upon conversion

About the Role:

The Staff Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing accounts receivable functions, including tenant interactions, billing, and reconciliations, within a high-volume setting. This position requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Accounting or Finance, relevant experience, and a customer-service-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable Management:

  • Oversee rent collections, ensuring timely processing and adherence to company policies.
  • Post tenant cash receipts daily and review cash reconciliation reports.
  • Process late fees, billing adjustments, and refunds based on lease agreements and account statuses.

Tenant Relations:

  • Handle tenant inquiries and requests with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
  • Send monthly statements, billing notices, and support for account reconciliations.

Reconciliation and Reporting:

  • Prepare and review tenant account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collect and input tenant sales data for monthly and annual reporting.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports and participate in periodic meetings with management to provide accounting support.

Collaboration:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal property management teams to ensure seamless communication and support.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in Accounting or Finance is required (non-negotiable).
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in accounts receivable or a similar role.
  • Skills:
    • Advanced Excel proficiency, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and formulas.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Experience managing high-volume workloads (up to 400 invoices).
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with property management or real estate accounting practices is a plus.
  • Experience using industry-specific accounting software, such as MRI or similar tools.

Work Environment:

This role requires full-time onsite presence at the Irvine, CA office, Monday through Friday. The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a team-oriented setting is essential.
