Senior Accounting Manager
Our client, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting operations and help build scalable financial infrastructure in a rapidly growing environment.
This role is hybrid in Austin, Texas. Remote candidates will be considered; however, candidates should be available during Central Time business hours. This role has an initial duration of approximately 3 months, with potential for extension and possible conversion to a full-time position.
Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and review financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Manage accounting activities related to government contracts, invoicing, compliance requirements, and contract administration
- Support the development, monitoring, and reconciliation of indirect cost structures and related accounting analyses
- Maintain accounting records and supporting documentation to satisfy regulatory and compliance requirements
- Oversee operational accounting activities across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll reconciliations, and billing processes
- Manage contract and milestone-based invoicing to ensure accuracy and timely billing
- Develop and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, controls, and operational efficiency
- Partner with business stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and provide financial insights that support decision-making
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Experience supporting government contracts, contract accounting, government invoicing, or other regulated contracting environments
- Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational workflows within a growing organization
