Accountant or Senior Accountant
Our client, a defense technology company, is seeking an Accountant / Senior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and help build scalable financial processes in a growing organization.
This role is hybrid in Austin, Texas. Remote candidates will be considered; however, candidates should be available during Central Time business hours. This role has an initial duration of approximately 3 months, with potential for extension and possible conversion to a full-time position.
Responsibilities:
- Support daily accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
- Prepare and assist with customer and contract-related invoicing processes
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis
- Perform payroll reconciliations and support related accounting processes
- Support expense management, approval workflows, and internal controls
- Assist with milestone-based billing and revenue-related documentation
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and process documentation
- Strengthen accounting controls, workflows, and reporting processes as the organization grows
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to support operational and financial objectives
Requirements:
- 3 years of accounting experience
- Strong experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close activities
- Experience with contract billing, customer invoicing, or project-based billing environments
- Familiarity with government contracting, regulatory compliance, or similar highly regulated industries preferred
- Experience with accounting systems and strong Excel skills; QuickBooks experience preferred
- Ability to operate independently, adapt to changing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced growth environment
