Senior Azure Architect – Microsoft Fabric Implementation

Vaco is seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure Architect to lead the implementation of Microsoft Fabric for our client, a healthcare organization handling PHI data.  This consulting project will be a full remote opportunity with an anticipated duration of 2-3 months, with potential for extension beyond.  Candidates must also be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.  Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States, as our client is unable to sponsor at this time.

Project Overview
Our client initially built their data warehouse in AWS using Redshift, but performance challenges led them to migrate to Azure. However, their implementation using Synapse Analytics has resulted in performance issues and cost inefficiencies. After evaluating next-generation solutions, they have decided to implement Microsoft Fabric, a Spark-based platform, as a net-new solution.

Role & Responsibilities
The Senior Azure Architect will be responsible for:
  • Designing, architecting, and implementing Microsoft Fabric in a secure and efficient manner.
    • Working in tandem with Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Ensuring seamless integration with SQL Server while addressing performance and security considerations.
  • Implementing certificate-based authentication to securely connect to the end client.
  • Defining and enforcing access policies to maintain compliance and data protection.
  • Leading the project independently while collaborating with Microsoft’s support team as needed.
  • Minimizing the need for interaction with the client’s data team by driving progress autonomously.
  • Facilitating data access via public access to eliminate the need for VPN connections and end points.
  • Facilitating Power BI integrations for data reporting and analysis.
  • Ensuring the initial implementation is completed within approximately two months, as this project is sponsored by the CEO.

Required Qualifications
  • Extensive experience implementing Microsoft Fabric in an enterprise environment.
  • Expertise in Azure architecture, security best practices, and SQL Server integration.
  • Strong knowledge of PHI data protection, compliance, and security protocols.
  • Experience with certificate-based authentication and access policy management.
  • Ability to operate independently, driving the project forward with minimal oversight.

This is a high-impact opportunity to lead a mission-critical implementation for a healthcare organization. If you have the expertise to successfully execute this project, we’d love to hear from you!
