Vaco has partnered on a critical role with a local client to identify a strong Business Analyst that will help to bridge business needs with technical solutions. In this role, you will ensure that system enhancements and new software solutions align with business objectives and work closely with stakeholders across sales, policy administration, claims, underwriting, annuities, and other insurance operations to translate business requirements into functional specifications for development teams. We are looking for those that have a strong background building clean business requirements for development teams (Java, MuleSoft, SQL Server). Core Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for sales tools, policy administration, claims, underwriting, annuities, and other insurance operations.
  • Document business requirements and translate them into functional and system specifications.
  • Define workflows, data models, and business rules to optimize insurance applications.
  • Develop detailed functional specifications, use cases, and user stories for development teams.
  • Work closely with development and testing teams to ensure accurate implementation of business requirements.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT), troubleshoot issues, and ensure solutions meet business needs.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of business processes, system workflows, and data mappings.
  • Provide training and end-user support on new system functionalities to enhance adoption and efficiency.
Position Qualifications:
  • 3 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, preferably supporting development teams. Experience in the life insurance and annuity industry is very nice to have.
  • Proficiency in business analysis techniques and documentation tools.
  • Experience with the software development life cycle (SDLC) and methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall.
  • Strong SQL skills for data querying, reporting, and analysis (Power BI, SSRS, etc.).
  • Ability to analyze complex business processes, identify opportunities for optimization, and propose effective solutions.
  • Understanding of APIs, integrations, and data exchange formats (XML, JSON, RESTful services).
  • Experience with business process modeling tools such as Visio.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) or other relevant certifications (Preferred).
