Revenue Accounting Consultant
Our client, a leading company in the professional services software industry, is seeking a Revenue Accounting Consultant to support their finance team. This role will focus on revenue recognition and accounting processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The position involves preparing and analyzing deal review packages, supporting month-end close activities, and collaborating with internal teams. This position offers remote work flexibility with occasional collaboration with teams virtually.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze deal review packages, ensuring accurate revenue allocations and compliance with accounting standards
- Review professional service contracts and related data to ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition
- Maintain a solid understanding of the company’s products and programs as they impact the revenue cycle
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis during the month-end close
- Assist in preparing financial reporting packages and disclosures for senior management
- Collaborate with internal teams to support process improvements and resolve issues
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and internal controls
- Stay updated on new accounting standards and their impact on the business
- Manage deliverables for external and internal auditors during quarterly and annual audits
- Participate in special accounting projects with a focus on process improvements
- Train and mentor junior accounting team members
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- CPA or Big 4 experience required
- 4 years of accounting experience, including exposure to SaaS or similar industries
- Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX, and internal controls
- Proficiency in NetSuite (experience with NetSuite ARM a plus)
- Advanced Excel skills required; Salesforce experience is a plus
- Excellent analytical, communication, and team collaboration skills
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $50 - $80 per hour.
