

Senior DevOps Engineer POST NUMBER: 443475
Vaco is searching for a Senior DevOps Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and managing infrastructure-as-code solutions, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CICD) frameworks, and containerized application environments. You will provide both technical leadership and hands-on support for internal system operations, ensuring smooth and efficient execution of infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities

Design and develop new configuration management patterns and infrastructure-as-code solutions, documenting, testing, and debugging as necessary.

Establish, maintain, and document clear guidelines and best practices for system configurations, ensuring that all policies align with operational efficiency.

Analyze business requirements and translate them into infrastructure models and application workflows.
-
Lead design discussions and assess user needs to identify technical requirements.
-
Create technical documentation and specifications based on business needs and conceptual designs.
-
Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies for system implementation, optimizing infrastructure for security and performance.

Implement changes to the infrastructure, including updates to hardware, operating systems, patches, user configurations, file systems, and kernel parameters, while always looking for ways to simplify the environment.

Troubleshoot and resolve system errors, failures, and bugs by analyzing root causes and optimizing the automation pipeline to ensure accurate results.

Diagnose and resolve hardware and server-related issues (such as failed disks, network cards, CPU, and memory) and serve as an escalation point for troubleshooting operating system and hardware problems.

Work closely with end users to prototype, refine, and debug programs tailored to meet specific needs.

Continuously monitor the health of system environments, address issues proactively, and enhance the performance of these environments.

Provide coaching and guidance to team members regarding team policies, procedures, best practices, and patterns.

Support and enhance product features, while ensuring proper maintenance of existing systems.

Participate in and adhere to the company’s change management protocols during system updates.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent certifications.

At least 7 years of relevant experience in DevOps, software engineering, or a related field.

Proven experience managing multiple projects and a broad understanding of software environments and network structures.

Ability to lead and facilitate technical design discussions.
-
At least 3 years of experience working with modern application design patterns.
-
Solid knowledge of iterative software development processes.
-
Proficiency in Linux administration and the ability to write and modify scripts.
-
Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible, or Puppet.
-
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IAC), containerization, and orchestration tools like Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.
-
Knowledge of security protocols, encryption, and best practices for securing infrastructure.
-
Experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Availability for on-call rotation as part of the team’s support structure.
-
Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Skills
-
Expertise in architecting and building Hadoop clusters both on-premises and in the cloud, using IAC principles.

Advanced skills in supporting NoSQL databases like HBase, Aerospike, SOLR, and Redshift.
-
Experience implementing and maintaining security for Hadoop, HBase, SOLR, and Kafka clusters, ensuring compliance with PCI requirements.

Overseeing the installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of Big Data infrastructure.

Experience using IAC tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) to build and support data platforms.
