Payroll Specialist
Location: Los Angeles, CA (LAX Area)
Compensation: $66,500–$73,000 annually (flexibility for the right candidate)
Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 100% Onsite
About the Opportunity
We are partnering with an established company in the Los Angeles area seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join its accounting team. This is a hands-on, standalone payroll position ideal for someone who enjoys owning the payroll process, values stability, and is looking for a long-term opportunity.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable independently processing payroll while identifying discrepancies and communicating with leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage biweekly payroll for approximately 100 employees.
- Review and audit payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor time and attendance records, pay rates, overtime, and payroll discrepancies.
- Partner with HR, Accounting, and Operations to resolve payroll-related issues.
- Process payroll adjustments, employee terminations, and final payments.
- Prepare payroll reports, overtime analysis, and other payroll metrics.
- Proactively identify errors, investigate discrepancies, and recommend solutions.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure confidentiality of employee information.
Qualifications
- 5 years of hands-on payroll processing experience.
- Experience independently managing payroll from start to finish.
- Strong payroll auditing, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of payroll compliance, overtime calculations, and timekeeping processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Pivot Tables preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work independently.
- Experience supporting hourly employees preferred.
- Multi-state payroll experience is a plus.
