Rebate & Lease Revenue Accounting Manager

Our client, a pioneering company in the medical device sector, is leading the way in innovative treatments for hypertension. With a recently FDA-approved product and a focus on providing non-drug, minimally invasive solutions, the company is on a path of significant growth, with plans to reach $1 billion in revenue in the next four years. This role will focus on managing and analyzing rebate-related revenue and accounting for lease arrangements, ensuring compliance with IFRS 15, IFRS 16, ASC 606, and ASC 842. The position is based in Palo Alto, requiring four days per week on-site, and offers an exciting opportunity to work in a rapidly growing organization with the potential for career advancement.

Responsibilities:

  • Rebate and Revenue Accounting:

    • Record, monitor, and reconcile rebate accruals and payments in compliance with IFRS 15 and company policies.

    • Ensure timely and accurate accounting for rebate revenue adjustments, accruals, and settlements.

    • Analyze customer contracts to determine rebate terms and appropriate revenue recognition treatment.

    • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations related to rebate revenue.

    • Collaborate with sales and finance teams to validate rebate calculations and ensure proper application to customer accounts.

  • Lease Accounting (Embedded & Stand-Alone Leases):

    • Identify and assess lease components within customer agreements to determine whether they qualify as embedded leases under IFRS 16.

    • Ensure proper classification and accounting for stand-alone leases, including operating and finance leases.

    • Record and maintain lease-related journal entries, including right-of-use (ROU) asset and lease liability calculations.

    • Partner with legal and sales teams to evaluate new agreements and ensure proper lease accounting treatment.

    • Prepare lease-related financial reports and disclosures, ensuring compliance with company policies and IFRS 16.

    • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of lease accounting software or ERP system lease modules.

  • Financial Analysis & Reporting:

    • Prepare financial reports and analysis related to rebates and leases, including forecasting and variance analysis.

    • Support internal and external audit requests by providing necessary documentation and reconciliations.

    • Track and report on rebate program effectiveness and lease impacts to support strategic decision-making.

    • Partner with FP&A and sales teams to improve rebate tracking, forecasting, and financial insights.

  • Process Improvement & Compliance:

    • Identify process inefficiencies and propose automation or improvements to enhance rebate and lease accounting processes.

    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, IFRS 15, IFRS 16, and SOX (if applicable).

    • Maintain accurate documentation of rebate programs, lease agreements, policies, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional certification preferred.

  • 3 years of experience in revenue accounting, lease accounting, or a related role.

  • Experience with IFRS 15 (Revenue Recognition) and IFRS 16 (Leases) is required.

  • Prior experience in manufacturing, technology, healthcare, or other industries with lease agreements is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 principles.

  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.

  • Experience with lease accounting software such as LeaseQuery or CoStar preferred.

  • Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).

  • Ability to analyze large data sets and generate meaningful insights.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize workload effectively.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, sales, and operations teams.

Compensation:

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $140K - $170K per year. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
