Assistant Controller
Our client, a Medical Equipment Manufacturing company, is looking for an Assistant Controller to join their team during a time of company optimization and advancement.
Location:
Palo Alto, CA. In office 3-4 days per week.
Job Description:
This position will be responsible for accounting operations in the US as well as the Global month-end consolidation and reporting process. This position will report to the Global Corporate Controller.
Responsibilities:

Ensure consistent implementation of accounting principles and procedures in compliance with IFRS
-
Lead the month-end close process and financial reporting to deliver accurate and timely results to the organization to facilitate critical decision-making.

Direct all aspects of daily US accounting operations including AR, AP, GL Close, Consolidation, Clinical trial accounting, Commissions, Rebates, and Cash management including
-
Ensuring that unposted invoices as well as other accruals are properly accrued for at month end

Reviewing and approving payroll accrual, benefits accruals, PTO accrual, and other employee expense-related journal entries

Liaise with European controller and EMEA accounting team to ensure consistent processes and smooth month-end close

Manage tax compliance and filings

Develop and document policies and procedures that promote consistency and scalability for the accounting department

Build relationships and partner with all departments to provide data and insights to help managers run the company and make effective decisions.

Respond to inquiries from employees about salaries, wages, and other questions regarding our payroll system, and follow up on discrepancies until resolved

Collaborate with international colleagues to ensure consistency and share best practices

Be a service provider to the organization, while ensuring compliance with policies and accounting standards

Become an expert at using the company’s ERP system to leverage its capabilities to maximum efficiency and best use

Develop a medium-to-long-term roadmap for the AP and Payroll, and GL functions, including technology improvements and resource requirements

Ad hoc requests from management and support of the broader accounting/finance organization as needed.
Requirements: -
Bachelor's degree in business or accounting required, CPA/ Public required
-
Proven experience overseeing the AP and Payroll functions in a fast-paced environment
-
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
-
Impeccable integrity and ability to apply good judgment
-
Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
-
Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
-
Highly detail-oriented with ability to summarize information succinctly for upper management
-
Experience using a complex ERP system required; NetSuite and QAD preferred
-
ERP implementation experience is a plus
-
Experience with ADP Workforce Now and/or WorkDay preferred
-
Coupa implementation experience preferred
-
Experience with Concur expense reimbursement and administration preferred

Proficiency with MS Office applications

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the referenced salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $190K - $220K. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
