JOB SUMMARY
Vaco Technology is currently seeking a PowerBuilder Developers for a 6M C2H opportunity located in Addison, TX 75001 (onsite 4-days per week).  The PowerBuilder Developers will support and enhance core business applications that are primarily written in PowerBuilder (v2017-2019 R3 and 2022) with Enterprise-Level .NET Integrations.  The PowerBuilder Developers will maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the existing applications while contributing to modernization efforts. 

  • Develop / Maintain / Enhance / Modernize PowerBuilder-based Core Business Applications
  • Support / Troubleshoot Existing PowerBuilder / .NET Components
  • Assist in Designing / Developing New Features / Enterprise-Level .NET Solutions
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams to Ensure Software Needs are Met
  • Participate in Code Reviews – Ensuring Adherence to Best Practices / High-Quality Standards
  • Assess Sybase Backend with Plans for Future Migration to SQL Sever

About the Project: The PowerBuilder Developer will join a SCRUM Team comprised of 8-9 total team members, including a mix of Developers / Engineers / QAs / Product Owners / SCRUM Masters, etc.  This PowerBuilder application is the main application that is utilized in all of their individual locations, handing and supporting regular day-to-day operations and operational logistics and is their mission-critical application utilized by 5K-6K individual users daily.  Modernization of their current applications, across the board, is their objective for 2025.  Currently, this team does not have very many applications hosted in Azure Cloud.  The database modernization is another area that is under construction, where they have to determine if and/or which pieces should be moved from OnPrem to the cloud and how that migration will ultimately look.  This PowerBuilder Developer will be a critical part of the overall process of modernization. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • PowerBuilder Developer (v2017-2022) – PowerScript / SQL / Event-Driven Development / Database Integration
  • Database Development – SQL Server / T-SQL / Sybase (to migrate to SQL Server)
  • Version Control Systems – GIT (strongly preferred) / SVN, etc.
  • SCRUM / Agile Development / Methodology

PREFERRED (not required)
  • .NET Integration with PowerBuilder – .NET Assemblies / WebServices (APIs) / PowerBuilder .NET Components / .NET Compiler / .NET Core
