About the Role:
Our long-term client in the Healthcare industry is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join their team. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in payroll operations, compliance knowledge, and excellent communication skills to interact with internal departments and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities:

Process and manage payroll for multiple states, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement for all employee types.

Review and validate new hires, terminations, and employee changes across the payroll system.

Compile and input data related to hours worked, time off, deductions, garnishments, and other withholdings.

Ensure accuracy of employee records including promotions, bonuses, and other employment updates.

Train and support managers on payroll systems and processes.

Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, ensuring timely communication and follow-up.

Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.

Partner with finance and HR teams during month-end closing processes and audits.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend enhancements to payroll workflows and systems.

Maintain a high level of customer service and confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Minimum 2 years of experience in payroll administration within a multi-state environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience building and maintaining complex spreadsheets.

Experience with payroll platforms (UltiPro preferred).

Strong knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws.

High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
