Our client is the largest privately held company in their industry with a regional footprint across the East Coast. Exciting times are ahead as they have several upcoming initiatives focused on technology modernization, process improvement, and automation to better services their customers and transform the landscape of the business.
Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant will support day-to-day financial activities across general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, payroll, and tax compliance. Reporting to the Controller, this role ensures accurate and timely financial records, supports operational processes, contributes to system improvements for process improvement and SOP documentation.
- Performs daily and monthly accounting duties including journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and preparation of financial statements
- Prepares accurate reports and ensures timely close of financials in accordance with GAAP
- Key contributor in ERP implementation related to documentation of SOPs and process improvement around month-end close.
- Reviews and processes vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and maintains well-organized AP files
- Supports payroll data extraction, labor cost allocation, and tax reporting for property, sales, and payroll taxes
- Manages customer invoicing, payment processing, aging reports, and AR collection coordination
- Assists with financial analysis, compliance, cash flow monitoring, and ad-hoc reporting
- Supports external audits and liaises with banks, tax advisors, and other financial partners
- Maintains strong communication across teams and ensures financial records comply with internal controls
- Contributes to risk management by supporting insurance and liability processes
- Participates in process improvement initiatives and documentation of standard operating procedures
- Utilizes and supports internal financial systems and technology documentation practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 3 years of relevant accounting experience; recent grads with internships considered
- Experience or foundation in GL accounting, GAAP compliance, and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong analytical, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently, maintain attention to detail, and contribute to team success
- Must be able to work in-office 5 days per week for first month, hybrid flexibility to 3 days onsite after first month
