We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our company's financial and accounting operations and lead our accounting team of five. You will manage our financial risk, oversee budgeting and financial forecasting, implement and ensure compliance with accounting standards and processes, and conduct detailed financial analysis to inform our strategic decision-making. This is a critical role, requiring exceptional leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of financial management accounting to improve our controls for our next phase of growth. You will report to and act as a trusted advisor and partner to the Vice President of Finance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the accounting department and controllership, overseeing all processes, systems, and people.
- Manage all aspects of accounting operations, including A/P, GL, Treasury, and Revenue Recognition.
- Manage all general day-to-day accounting functions and month-end close for multiple legal entities.
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting and proper compliance with all regulations.
- Ensure the timely preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with established procedures and GAAP standards.
- Serve as internal advisor to senior leaders, with a particular focus on the product, sales and marketing teams.
- Analyze current and forecasted business operations with comparisons to budget. Assist the financial planning and analysis team in preparing and revising budget models.
- Advise the VP of Finance and other senior leaders on key management and operational matters to achieve targeted results while managing risks.
- Formalize our accounting policies and create well-defined processes and systems to produce and document support for journal entries.
- Manage all tax-related workstreams.
- 10 years of corporate or public accounting experience with a minimum of 8 years experience in a corporate accounting management role.
- Experience at a VC-backed or PE-backed company
- High proficiency and experience with NetSuite
- At least 3 years of experience managing a small team in finance/accounting
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly technical organization; adept at working cross-functionally and building support across different stakeholders
- Strong written communication skills. Can distill complex subjects into clear and succinct memos or presentations
- Prior track record in building and managing a lean, high-caliber accounting team within a high-performance operating culture that supports the development and growth of our team
- BA or higher, preferably in Finance, or Accounting.
- CPA license preferred but not required
