Vaco Denver is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to join our valued client in the hospitality industry! This individual will serve as a leader and member of the accounting team and report directly to the Controller. Primary responsibilities include overseeing the entire AP process by ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors, suppliers, and landlords while leading, coaching, and developing the AP team. Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all areas of our AP process and effectively lead the AP team.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on our AP automation software and its interactions with our ERP system.
  • Manage and seek out additional ways to optimize AP automation software.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and suppliers to enable efficient answers to inquiries and resolution of issues that may arise.
  • Coach and develop the AP team, including cross-training of the AP team to minimize impact of down time and ensuring that the team maintains a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with other members of the finance team and key stakeholders in the business to ensure continuous improvement of the AP process.
  • Oversee the month-end AP close process.
  • Oversee the research/resolution of outstanding checks.
  • Oversee vendor 1099 annual compliance and reporting.
  • Ensure that AP processes are in compliance with various internal control and J-SOX requirements and appropriate documentation is maintained.
  • Support the annual audit and requests from auditors, as needed.
  • Other duties and ad-hoc projects, as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Accounts Payable role.
  • 2 years supervisory experience, preferably in an AP department.
  • Experience with Great Plains Accounting Software a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with Medius, or similar automation software a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
