We are currently partnering with a large, publicly traded company headquartered in Atlanta to recruit a Senior Lease Accountant. The Senior Lease Accountant will play a critical role in managing lease accounting processes and ensuring compliance with ASC 842. This highly visible position will work closely with the real estate, legal, and finance teams to assess lease arrangements, ensure proper accounting treatment, and contribute to financial reporting and audit readiness. The role also includes exposure to software/SaaS accounting, internal controls, and cross-functional initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluate lease contracts and determine appropriate accounting treatment under ASC 842
- Prepare and support lease-related disclosures for financial reporting
- Assist with month-end close activities related to leases and other areas
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Real Estate, FP&A, Legal, and Procurement
- Maintain and test SOX/internal controls related to lease accounting
- Conduct technical accounting research and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Provide audit support and respond to internal and external audit inquiries
The right candidate for this Senior Accountant role will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (MAcc preferred)
- CPA (active or on CPA track)
- 3–4 years of relevant accounting experience
- 2 busy seasons in a large public accounting firm highly preferred
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and lease accounting standards (ASC 842)
- Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
