Senior Accounting Manager POST NUMBER: 450054
Dallas, TX – onsite 3-4 days/week
**CPA or CPA in-progress required**
One of Vaco's longstanding clients is looking for a Senior Accounting Manager to manage a midsized team and oversee the financials for one of their regions. Looking for folks coming out of larger environments, preferably publicly-traded.
The company itself boasts great culture - Vaco has placed several folks with the organization and received great feedback on leadership and workplace (monthly team building events, big on celebrations, VERY outgoing group.) There is a strong tenure on the team as well (people routinely stay there 5, 10, 15 years). There is also a potential growth path to Director in the next 2-3 years for the right person.
Compensation: $140-160K discretionary bonus
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Lead, mentor, and support a small accounting team
- Liaise with external auditors, tax preparers, and consultants as needed
- Identify opportunities for automation and workflow improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
- Proven ability to manage the close process from start to finish
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.)
