

Assistant Controller POST NUMBER: 450166
We’re on the lookout for a sharp, hands-on Assistant Controller to help steer a client’s financial operations and elevate our accounting processes. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting, enjoys solving problems, and is passionate about building scalable systems that support long-term growth.
As a key member of the finance team, you’ll take ownership of core accounting functions, from payables and receivables to payroll and reporting, while also playing a strategic role in process optimization, compliance, and financial analysis.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Manage the full cycle of accounts payable and receivable, including vendor/client onboarding, billing, collections, and disbursements.
- Maintain the general ledger with precision: reconcile accounts, prepare journal entries, and ensure accurate financial data.
- Lead or support payroll operations, ensuring compliance with multi-state regulations and timely execution.
- Assist in closing the books each month and year-end, preparing financial statements and variance reports.
- Review employee reimbursements and evaluate out-of-budget spending requests.
- Monitor financial activity to detect anomalies and deliver insights to leadership.
- Support internal audits, system upgrades, and the implementation of robust financial controls.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance accuracy, speed, and scalability.
- Keep documentation and financial procedures current and audit-ready.
- Occasionally attend team events or meetings, with minimal travel (under 10%).
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience (8 years).
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, reporting, and GL management.
- Familiarity with multi-state payroll and tax compliance is a plus.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with enterprise accounting platforms is a bonus.
- Exceptional organizational and analytical abilities, with a knack for managing competing priorities.
