

Director of Purchasing & Procurement ( Paper & Packaging ) POST NUMBER: 439207
This role is a critical leadership position, overseeing the sourcing, negotiation, and management of materials and supplies necessary to support our manufacturing and distribution operations.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Purchasing Director, you will oversee the entire procurement function, ensuring seamless operations and alignment with company objectives.
Strategic Procurement:
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Monitor market trends and supplier capabilities to ensure competitive pricing and supply chain stability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Manage the full purchasing lifecycle, including issuing purchase orders, monitoring lead times, and ensuring on-time delivery.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of supplier information, pricing, and inventory.
- Work closely with sales, production, and warehouse teams to manage inventory levels and address supply needs.
- Communicate status updates and potential delays to relevant stakeholders.
- Analyze purchasing trends, inventory levels, and usage to drive data-based decision-making.
- Address slow-moving or excess inventory by implementing appropriate solutions.
- Provide regular updates to senior management regarding procurement activities, challenges, and opportunities.
- Ensure all purchasing activities align with company policies and compliance standards.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in purchasing or procurement within manufacturing or distribution.
- Strong understanding of packaging materials, including corrugated goods, plastics, and related commodities.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
- This role requires a highly organized and strategic thinker who can work independently while effectively managing supplier relationships and maintaining efficient operations.
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of the purchasing function.
- Exceptional negotiation, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other business tools.
- Previous experience with an ERP implementation is a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
