Company Overview:
Our client is a rapidly growing manufacturing and distribution business in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) space. Known for their entrepreneurial leadership and premium product lines, they’re seeking a hands-on Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls while supporting strategic initiatives. This is a high-impact role reporting directly to a company co-founder.
Position Summary:
The Controller will oversee the full spectrum of accounting operations including general ledger, cost accounting, AR/AP, financial reporting, and tax compliance. This individual will manage month-end close, budgeting, and audit coordination, while supporting ERP upgrades and mentoring a small accounting team.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all accounting operations including GL, AR/AP, fixed assets, cost accounting, and payroll allocations

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with US GAAP

Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes; coordinate with external auditors and manage audit prep

Monitor and enhance internal controls and company card/T&E processes

Develop budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses; provide financial insights to ownership

Ensure tax compliance including indirect taxes and income tax return preparation

Manage inventory reconciliations and annual physical counts

Lead accounting ERP implementation and transition to specialized distillation software

Oversee co-packing project costing and cost allocation reporting

Supervise and mentor accounting staff; support process improvements and special projects as needed
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA and/or Master’s preferred

7 years of progressive accounting experience, with strong cost accounting background in a manufacturing or CPG environment

Hands-on experience managing full-cycle accounting close (3–5 day close environment)

ERP system experience required (Microsoft Dynamics Business Central strongly preferred)

Prior experience advancing within a company or leading within a small team environment is ideal

Background in public accounting (audit or tax) strongly preferred
