

Payroll Tax Analyst POST NUMBER: 452114
Vaco Atlanta is working with a well-established professional services client in Downtown Atlanta that is undergoing a payroll transformation initiative. They are seeking a Payroll Tax Analyst for a DIRECT HIRE (permanent) position. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite per week. Only applicants who live in the Atlanta, GA area will be considered.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform complex payroll tax calculations, including retroactive tax and gross-to-net reconciliations

Process W-2s, corrections, and year-end reporting with a focus on accuracy and IRS compliance

Maintain employee master tax data and ensure data integrity across payroll systems

Support audits and respond to tax-related inquiries from internal departments and external agencies

Reconcile payroll tax general ledger accounts and balance tax data

Recommend and implement payroll tax process improvements

Provide subject matter expertise and resolution support on escalated tax issues

Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and Finance teams to support broader payroll initiatives
REQUIREMENTS
-
Minimum 3 years of payroll experience, with a strong focus on payroll tax

Experience in high-volume, multi-state payroll environments strongly preferred

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, especially around tax compliance and reconciliations

Familiarity with payroll and HRIS systems such as ADP (WFN, SmartCompliance) and Workday

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)

Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team setting

Associate degree or higher preferred; equivalent payroll experience will also be considered

Must be highly professional, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
