Our client in the Raleigh area is looking for an experienced Audit Manager to join their growing team. This individual will be responsible for establishing and leading comprehensive internal audit functions within the organization. This high-impact role is ideal for a credentialed accounting professional with a strong background in public accounting and a preference for structured, in-person work environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute a robust internal audit program focused on financial controls, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation.
- Conduct audits to identify control weaknesses and recommend actionable improvements aligned with strategic objectives.
- Lead special investigations and ad hoc projects as assigned by senior leadership or governance committees.
- Present audit findings and insights to executive stakeholders.
- Maintain thorough documentation of audit processes and stay informed on evolving regulatory and industry standards.
- Develop and manage a risk-based audit plan that reflects organizational priorities.
- Track the implementation of audit recommendations and ensure timely remediation.
- Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and regulatory bodies.
- Mentor junior audit staff and cross-functional team members involved in audit activities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and operational compliance.
- Contribute to the development of internal policies and procedures that enhance governance and accountability.
- Leverage data analytics to improve audit scope, precision, and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA required; additional certifications such as CIA or CFE are preferred.
- 5–7 years of audit experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management frameworks, and audit methodologies.
