Senior Accountant POST NUMBER: 452490
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join a reputable and growing company here in Birmingham known for the quality of their people. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will play a critical part in assisting in the management the company’s accounting operations, reporting, and month-end close.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the Controller in managing the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process

Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements

Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reports

Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records

Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures

Provide support during audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries

Analyze financial data and provide insights to support business decision-making
-
Help streamline accounting processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as needed

Mentor and support junior accounting staff as appropriate
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred

3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment with hands on general ledger experience

Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting practices

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Excel

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
-
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
