Corporate Controller:
A growing, private equity-backed organization is seeking a Corporate Controller to lead the company’s accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting functions. Reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer, this individual will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, managing general ledger operations, overseeing audits, and maintaining internal controls. The Controller will be instrumental in scaling the finance function, supporting continued growth through acquisitions, and collaborating closely with business unit leaders.
Responsibilities:- Lead timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Prepare lender, investor, and board reporting packages
- Manage the monthly close process and ensure strong internal controls over financial reporting
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
- Develop and mentor a growing accounting team
- Partner with District Controllers, AP, AR, Tax, and HR teams to maintain accurate accounting records
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development
- Research and apply complex accounting issues (e.g., revenue recognition, lease accounting, purchase accounting, impairment)
- Maintain internal accounting policies and procedures
- Liaise with external auditors and manage the annual financial audit
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and support internal audit functions
- Support due diligence, purchase accounting, and post-acquisition integration activities
- Develop scalable processes for onboarding acquired companies into the financial systems
- Drive automation and process improvements for a scalable finance infrastructure
- Lead ERP optimization and participate in systems implementation projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA required)
- 10 years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including 3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP, consolidations, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Experience in a private equity-backed, multi-entity, or multi-location business environment
- Successful track record with ERP/system implementations (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- M&A integration experience within a high-growth or roll-up business model
- Background in construction, distribution, or specialty contracting sectors
- Public accounting experience at a Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred
