

Property Accountant POST NUMBER: 453991
Location: New York, NY
Salary: $110,000-130,000 base
Thriving Real Estate Investment Firm is looking for an experienced Property Accountant to manage the financials for a diverse portfolio of 12–15 residential buildings with multiple ownership entities.
? Cash & Banking
- Monitor and manage cash flow across properties to ensure sufficient operating funds
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly
- Coordinate wire transfers and mortgage payments
- Approve vendor payments in coordination with the Accounts Payable team
- Work closely with Accounts Receivable to post and review non-tenant receipts
- Handle all aspects of the month-end close process, including journal entries and accruals
- Prepare monthly financial statements and ownership reporting packages
- Deliver variance analyses and special reports as requested by owners or lenders
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with accrual-based accounting standards
- Assist with the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets
- Work with property managers and owners to align budgets with operational goals
- Provide financial documentation and support during audits
- Reconcile and maintain security deposit accounts
- Respond to ownership and internal requests in a timely, professional manner
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in property accounting, preferably residential real estate
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.)
- Familiarity with Yardi (7s or similar systems)
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Clear and professional communication—both written and verbal
- Ability to manage deadlines and work independently
