This is an excellent opportunity to work in a hands-on role that partners with Operations, Supply Chain, and Plant Finance to drive accurate financials and continuous process improvement.

This role will analyze manufacturing costs and variances, support budgeting and forecasting, and ensure accounting controls and compliance. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, manufacturing cost knowledge, and a collaborative approach to cross-functional problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end close activities: prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments related to manufacturing operations.

  • Perform cost accounting tasks including standard cost maintenance, variance analysis (material, labor, overhead), and inventory valuation (FIFO/LIFO/weighted average as applicable).

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts such as inventory, work in process, prepaid expenses, and intercompany balances.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, cost drivers, and margin analyses to support plant and corporate leadership.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and monthly/quarterly variance explanations versus plan and prior periods.

  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, capitalization, depreciation schedules, and disposals.

  • Maintain and document internal controls; assist with SOX or internal audit requests and remediation.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing, and Supply Chain to resolve cost and inventory discrepancies and optimize processes.

  • Support project accounting for capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff; assist in process documentation and training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.

  • 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing or production accounting preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting concepts, inventory valuation, and GAAP.

  • Proficiency in Excel (lookups, pivot tables, analysis); experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) preferred.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and work cross-functionally.

  • Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close deadlines.
