Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Data Modeling Leadership – Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models using Erwin Data Modeler to support enterprise data initiatives.
- Business Analysis – Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, and validate data requirements, ensuring alignment between business needs and technical solutions.
- Data Product Ownership – Manage assigned data domains throughout their lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with governance standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Act as the primary liaison between BI and Data Engineering teams to align semantic layers, models, and reporting structures.
- Standards & Governance – Enforce data modeling and architecture standards, naming conventions, and best practices across all initiatives.
- Requirement Translation – Translate analytical and operational requirements into technical specifications, supporting both self-service BI and enterprise data warehouse projects.
- Metadata & Data Lineage – Partner with Data Governance to maintain metadata repositories, lineage documentation, and business glossaries.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience as a Data Modeler or in a related enterprise data role.
- Proficiency with Erwin Data Modeler.
- Strong expertise in relational and Kimball dimensional modeling techniques.
- Experience designing and maintaining Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs).
- Strong SQL development skills and ability to work with large, complex datasets.
- Experience working with Azure and other modern cloud-based data platforms.
REQUIRED
- Platforms: Azure Data Services, Microsoft Fabric (exposure preferred).
- Tools: Erwin Data Modeler, SQL.
- Data Architecture: Relational modeling, dimensional modeling, ERDs, semantic layer design.
- Concepts: Metadata management, data lineage, governance, and observability frameworks.
- Collaboration: Experience bridging BI, data engineering, and business stakeholders.
PREFERRED
- Familiarity with Data Vault 2.0 concepts.
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric and Databricks.
- Experience with Wherescape, DBT, or streaming tools (e.g., Striim).
- Background in AI/ML data preparation workflows.
