Assistant Controller POST NUMBER: 456887
Addison, TX – onsite 4 days/week

Compensation: $150K 20% bonus equity program
One of Vaco’s PE-backed CPG clients is looking to onboard an Assistant Controller as part of a recent restructuring and the creation of a new role. Will oversee 2 Managers Seniors/Staffs (total team size 7-8~ ppl) and be responsible for the full cycle close process, reviewing recons, high-risk journal entries, technical accounting research and balance sheet/income statement analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, consolidations, and monthly close.
- Lead technical accounting research and prepare position papers on complex transactions (revenue recognition, lease accounting, business combinations, debt/equity, stock compensation, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting standards (if applicable), and internal control requirements.
- Partner with external auditors and manage audit requests, providing timely and accurate responses.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Support preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting, including disclosures and footnotes.
- Monitor new accounting pronouncements and assess their impact on the business.
- Assist the Controller and CFO in developing accounting policies, processes, and internal controls.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Mentor, develop, and oversee accounting staff to build a high-performing team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- CPA required.
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred) and corporate accounting.
- Strong technical accounting expertise with proven experience in U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting.
- Experience with complex transactions such as M&A, debt/equity, revenue recognition, and leases.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, SOX compliance, and accounting policy development.
ERP system proficiency (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar); strong Excel and financial reporting skills.
