Director of Operations POST NUMBER: 457818
Director of Operations - Home Care (Ground-Floor Opportunity)
Salary: $90,000-125,000 base
Location: Columbus or Clevland, OH area
We are seeking a highly experienced and ambitious Director of Operations to build and lead a non-skilled home care agency from the ground up. This is a unique, hands-on opportunity for a proactive, results-oriented leader with a "roll-up-your-sleeves" mentality to shape all aspects of a new business. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience scaling a home care agency and a deep understanding of the full operational lifecycle.
Initially, this is a solo role where you will be responsible for all business operations, with the goal of growing the agency to approximately 50 patients within the first year, and eventually scaling to a team of 14 staff members and 450 caregivers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Agency Buildout: Act as the sole on-site presence, managing all aspects of the office setup from the ground up. This includes finding and leasing office space, coordinating utilities (phone, internet), and managing contractors for build-out projects like cubicles and signage.
- Operational Management: Oversee all daily business operations. This includes managing incoming patient and caregiver inquiries, onboarding new clients and Home Health Aides (HHAs), and implementing core systems.
- System Implementation & Management: Implement and manage key home care software systems, including HHA Exchange for scheduling and billing, and a RingCentral phone system. You will also manage applicant tracking software like Employ.
- Growth & Business Development: Drive patient growth by onboarding approximately two new patients per month. You will also support a future in-house marketer who will focus on building relationships with hospitals, assisted living facilities, and community centers.
- Staffing & Recruitment: Lead the recruitment and hiring of HHAs, managing the entire process from initial call to onboarding.
- Licensing & Compliance: Facilitate the contracting and credentialing process with two additional Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), with the support of a consultant. This will enable the agency to expand into secondary markets like Delaware and Ohio.
- Training & Development: Lead the development and rollout of an employee handbook and a comprehensive onboarding and orientation process for all caregivers, including training on the HHA Exchange app.
- Financial Oversight (Operational): Provide operational oversight of financial analytics, including an understanding of P&L from an operational perspective. You will not be responsible for preparing financial statements, as these will be managed by an outsourced billing company.
- 10 years of progressive Home Care Operations experience is a must. You should have a background that includes roles such as Intake Coordinator or Director of Intake, with a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the business.
- Proven experience running a non-skilled Home Care agency, or a senior leadership role in a similar setting.
- Direct experience with HHA Exchange software is preferred.
- A resourceful, driven, and hands-on professional who can take initiative and problem-solve creatively.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
