Base Salary Range: $140,000-165,000/Year
Bonus Target: 20% (pro-rated based on start date)
Total Cash Compensation: $168,000-198,000/Year
Vaco by Highspring is conducting a search on behalf of this organization to identify a high-performing Litigation Counsel to join their growing in-house legal team. Exact client details will be shared only with shortlisted candidates.
Position Summary
This is a unique opportunity for a motivated litigator to transition into a dynamic corporate environment and manage a diverse portfolio of disputes and investigations. The role offers direct exposure to senior leadership, cross-functional collaboration with business stakeholders, and the ability to shape internal policies aimed at reducing litigation risk. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and bring a practical, solutions-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee a varied docket of litigation matters, including consumer, commercial, class action, employment, regulatory, and personal injury disputes.
- Partner with external counsel on strategy, discovery, budgeting, and resolution planning.
- Conduct internal investigations, coordinate with org stakeholders on litigation risk and response.
- Collaborate with compliance, HR, risk, and operations teams to proactively mitigate legal risks.
- Review and improve internal policies and processes to reduce exposure to litigation.
- Provide pragmatic legal advice on escalated business or employee matters.
- Support discovery responses, document preservation and collection, and subpoena compliance.
- Prepare concise updates and reports for senior business and legal leadership.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from a U.S. law school (top 50 strongly preferred).
- Eligible for an in-house counsel license in New Jersey.
- 2–4 years of litigation experience at a reputable law firm or corporate legal department; judicial clerkship experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated excellence in legal research, writing, and analysis.
- Strong business judgment with the ability to balance legal risk against business objectives.
- Familiarity with legal technology platforms such as eDiscovery tools, document review systems, or matter management systems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with a proactive, solution-driven mindset.
